Lessons in Flute, Piano, Music Theory. Beginner to advanced in the Whitchurch, Wrexham, Shropshire, Cheshire areas.

Christmas in the music room

Summer Term will start from the week commencing 23rd April

Whitchurch based tuition from experienced qualified musician / teacher / tutor.

There is currently a waiting list for new students. Please contact me if you would like to be added or arrange an initial lesson.

Students are taught in my newly renovated music room with grand piano and a vaulted ceiling to improve acoustics.
Lessons are taught in a friendly and supportive way and are designed to challenge the individual (building on their current skills, learning new techniques and exploring the extensive repertoire of music written for their instrument), whilst also being enjoyable and stimulating. All students are trained to become "musical detectives": recognising and learning how to correct problems as they arise (which in turn helps with effective practice).
All students are given regular tuition in sight reading, scales/technical exercises and aural as part of their ongoing instruction, as well as theory exercises (these important aspects continue throughout the students' training with me, and in between taking exams).

As every student is unique, lessons are planned according to each individual's needs and aims, so they make consistent progress and become competent and successful musicians.
Prospective students should have a desire to learn, to develop their musicianship and show commitment to regular practice and attendance. Lessons are taught on a weekly basis during term time and students may book slots during holiday periods if they wish.
I organise events throughout the year for students to gain valuable performing experience. Past examples include performing in local gardens open to the public (Hodnet Hall, Wollerton Old Hall), national trust events (Erddig), music festivals(Birkenhead, Oswestry) and evening concerts. I have also done a CD recording session with students and plan on doing more of these in the future. Wind players may join "Flute Salad" ensemble by invitation (see the Flute Salad page for more details)

Some of the work specialised in:
*Beginner students and students transferring from school tuition organisations
*Advanced flute students (grade 6+)
*Students with fixed braces or having had braces removed. (I had fixed braces on both top and bottom teeth for 3 years in my early 30's, so I know the problems some students can encounter!)
